Hey all! Just wondering if anyone here has a WSR account with some time remaining that they'd like to sell to me. I'd rather PayPal with someone on LJ than a random Craigslister. Let me know if you'd be up for it and what your price is. Thanks!

Regina at the Ryman!

  • Nov. 16th, 2009 at 10:53 PM
Hi everyone. Just got back from the Ryman show. I know you won't believe it, but I think we got a NEW SONG. Regina played it and dedicated it to a friend and his family. I recorded most of it, but I'm going to wait before I post it in case for whatever reason she doesn't want us to.

Here's the set list:

Calculation
Eet
Folding Chair
Ode to Divorce
Machine
(band intro)
Laughing With
Once More With Feeling
Blue Lips
On the Radio
Musical Interlude thingy
Dance Anthem of the 80s
Silly Eye Color Generalizations
Bobbing for Apples
That Time
Apres Moi
Poor Little Rich Boy
Wallet

NEW SONG: Lyrics were something like "The Piano is not firewood yet...try to remember...heart beating". Again, I'll post the lyrics tomorrow. Unless it was a cover, in which case feel free to correct me!

Man of a Thousand Faces

ENCORE during which two drunk bitches in the front row were kicked out by four security members and Regina's manager. She'd asked them SEVERAL times to be quiet and they were ruining the show both for her and for us. THANK YOU to the Ryman security for getting them the heck out of there!

Samson
Us
Fidelity
Hotel Song
Love You're a Whore

And that was it! I think those girls were really bothering her, which bothered me, but she was still lovely, excellent Regina. This marked my 18th show - and I hope to get 18 more in there!

The New Yooxer on Yoox.com posted a video interview with Tori over the week. Interspersed with live video clips, Tori talks about Abnormally Attracted to Sin, Midwinter Graces and the dresses she’s wearing on the current tour.

The feature also includes a slideshow of photographs by Fabio Costi and Tori’s “Dream Box,” where she picks out some clothing and accessories from Yoox.com, the site that the New Yooxer is part of.

Visit The New Yooxer (or jump the cut) for the video — be warned that it starts automatically — though it’s perfectly safe for work if you’re worried about that sort of thing.

Thanks to Susan, Jamie and Kirkland for letting us know about this one!

Maybe One Day She'll Be Her Own

In response to the performances and setlists from the Australian tour so far, Toriphile Melanie has created a petition to show the demand for solo tours of North America and Europe and to encourage Tori to supply the same. Melanie is planning on getting a list of the signatures to Tori at either the end of the Australian tour or at the upcoming Jazz Cafe show so if you agree with the sentiment, we’re sure that she’d appreciate you adding your name to the petition.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow in Sydney

  • Nov. 16th, 2009 at 11:58 PM

Due to the limited cell phone reception, we didn’t expect to be able to get the setlist for today’s or tomorrow’s shows at the Sydney Opera House live as it happened. However, we did expect to get the set posted once it came in but nefarious things precluded us from doing so as quickly as the intrepid @sarahkthx sent it in just after the show ended. Nevertheless, it is there now — go forth and feast your eyes upon its glory!

In addition to the new staples (“Lady in Blue,” “Blood Roses,” “I Can’t See New York” and “Barons of Suburbia”), the set was sprinkled with several other favorites including “Here. In My Head,” “Pandora’s Aquarium,” “Take to the Sky,” “Merman” and “Putting the Damage On.”

We’re sure everyone knows the routine by now but just in case not: we’d love to host your reviews, photographs and videos on the site. If you’d like to share, please use the comment form at the bottom of the Sydney page to let us know. There are instructions for e-mail photographs as well.

Hopefully we’ll be able to get the second Sydney’s setlist posted sooner than today’s. Wish us luck! (But if we don’t, y’all can start posting reviews for that show in the Tour section soon as the show is over.)

Die Grüppe presents Gays, Bacon, Lettuce & TomatoGay people have infiltrated every aspect of culture…and made it more awesome, making straight people look less awesome in the process. The straight contingency of Theatre Unleashed is okay with that so long as we can make some money off of our gay company comrades. As such, we have joined forces to announce the return of Die Grüppe with GLBT: Gays, Lettuce, Bacon and Tomato, an evening of gay-related sketches and new characters you won't forget! Don’t be afraid to come out and enjoy a night of complete and utter gayness…as in joyfulness…and gayness…

Company Auditions!

  • Nov. 16th, 2009 at 3:00 PM
Theatre Unleashed, north hollywood, non profit, theatre companyTheatre Unleashed, an edgy, ambitious, no-holds-barred theatre company in residence at The Sherry Theatre in North Hollywood is holding Company Auditions for our ever expanding community of fellow artists.

We are currently enhancing our company with an influx of performers, writers, directors, lighting designers, costume designers, choreographers, musical directors, pretty much anyone interested in the art of live theatre.

We're looking for professionals who have experience and want to become a part of an ever-growing nonprofit dedicated to telling amazing stories for the city of Los Angeles.

Our recently announced 2010 Main Stage Season will include an evening of satire by the great playwright Anton Chekhov, Shakespeare's Richard II and two original Theatre Unleashed plays -- The Rape by Phillip Kelly, about the search for law in a post society world, and Lang by Andrew Moore, a drama following German film director Fritz Lang and his dealings with Nazi Germany. With a slew of Fringe shows, including our sketch comedy troupe Die Gruppe, performance art events, environmental theatre, our late night series and many more in the works, Theatre Unleashed provides several opportunities to grow as an artist and allow your talent to flourish.

Like most companies in Los Angeles, we are a dues paying company, currently set at $40 a month. As a member of Theatre Unleashed, you have a stake in the direction the company takes, a voice in the collaborative efforts of our incredible group of people, and a chance to cultivate your talents and abilities as an artist.

Our next day for company auditions will be Sunday November 22nd from Noon-4:30pm. If you’re interested in taking part in the auditions and becoming a part of our company or have questions email: Erin Scott at erin.scott@theatreunleashed.com. For more information, go to www.theatreunleashed.com

What to Prepare: Two one minute monologues. A contemporary and a classical.

Thank you and we hope to see you at the auditions.

I have ended up with 2 extra wrist bands that we bought at the pre sale price of $65, vs the $80 which is the price at the gate.

we REALLY DON'T want to loose money. so if anybody wants to buy these suckers please comment or contact me.

philcon schedule and out of town authors

  • Nov. 16th, 2009 at 9:19 AM
Here's my Philcon schedule for this weekend:

Sat 10:00 AM in Plaza III (Three) (1 hour)
THE VALUE OF ART: TRADITIONAL VS. DIGITAL MEDIA (119)

[Panelists: Ray Ridenour (mod), Kyle Cassidy, Luke Stelmaszek, Alan
Beck, Thomas Nackid]

How does an artist set prices for their art? Should a one of a kind
oil painting cost more than a digital piece that took the same
amount of time to make? Do buyers understand the value of art

Sat 12:00 PM in Plaza V (Five) (1 hour)
STEAMPUNK ART: WHO'S DOING IT AND WHY WE LIKE IT. (121)

[Panelists: Kyle Cassidy (mod), D.E. Christman, Thomas Nackid]

A discussion of steampunk artists

Sat 4:00 PM in Crystal Ballroom Two (1 hour)
KYLE CASSIDY SLIDE SHOW (254)

[Panelists: Kyle Cassidy (mod)]

Photographer Kyle Cassidy shows his work

Sun 11:00 AM in Plaza V (Five) (1 hour)
DRAWN TO THE DARK: THE APPEAL OF HORROR ART (113)

[Panelists: D.E. Christman (mod), Mark E. Rogers, Kyle Cassidy,
Thomas Nackid, Hartstein Onezumi]

What draws artists to do horror art? What draws fans to love these
images of gore and creepiness

Sun 2:00 PM in Plaza IV (Four) (1 hour)
WHAT MY CAT HAD FOR BREAKFAST. (218)

[Panelists: Orenthal Hawkins (mod), Kyle Cassidy, Alyce Wilson,
Terri Osborne, KT Pinto]

Just because everyone can have a blog does that mean everyone
should? Panelists discuss what kind of personal responsibility
comes with putting your thoughts out there for the world to read

I have to really applaud the programing people because of all the panels available, these are probably, mostly, the ones I'm competent to be on. I was imagining I'd end up on some panel like "The early untranslated fiction of M. Blatherskythe Blimpzesken: an examination of minor characters in Babylon 5 in comparison with the second transurnal blendstream movement (1977/1987) - Kyle Cassidy (mod)"

I'd particularly recommend "what my cat had for breakfast" cause, you know, it'll probably have ROSWELL CONTENT.

Also, if there are any out of town authors who don't have a place to stay or were thinking of driving back to NYC, the Rock Star Hotel is vacant that weekend, drop us a line.
